✨ Technical Specifications
Finca Mirador is a legendary single-vineyard Malbec that tells the story of Mendoza's viticultural survival. Planted in 1921 in the Medrano region, this ungrafted, centenarian vineyard thrives on heavy clay-loam soils at an elevation of roughly 700 meters. Unlike its sibling Finca Altamira, Mirador benefits from a slightly warmer microclimate, yielding a Malbec of immense concentration, dark fruit intensity, and a distinct mineral, graphite-like complexity. Achaval Ferrer's meticulous, low-intervention winemaking—including extremely low yields of just a few bunches per vine and aging in French oak—preserves the pure, untamed voice of this historic site.
🍾 About the Producer
Established in 1998 by Santiago Achával, Manuel Ferrer, Roberto Cipresso, and Italian associates—and later acquired by Tenute del Mondo—Achaval Ferrer stands as an elite vanguard of Argentine viticulture. Operating from Perdriel in Luján de Cuyo, the estate is renowned for championing ancient, low-yielding, ungrafted bush and pergola vines across disparate micro-terroirs along the Mendoza River and into the high-altitude reaches of the Uco Valley. Viticulture is practiced sustainably, eschewing chemical saturation in favor of organic soil treatments, severe green harvesting, and flood-irrigated alluvial and volcanic stony soils. Cellar protocol prioritizes low-intervention handling: unforced natural fermentations in concrete vats without chilling or acidification, subtle aging in fine French oak, and bottling unfined and unfiltered. The estate's pinnacle expressions include the acclaimed Bordeaux blend Quimera and its legendary, site-specific single-vineyard Malbec trilogy: Finca Bella Vista, Finca Mirador, and Finca Altamira, noted for immense structural precision, freshness, and profound mineral depth.
