La Poja is a legendary single-vineyard red wine born from the visionary mind of Giovanni Allegrini in 1983. Situated at the very crest of the prestigious La Grola hill in the Sant'Ambrogio district of Valpolicella, the La Poja vineyard is a unique, wind-swept plateau. Its soils are dominated by white, chalky limestone that reflects the sun's warmth back onto the vines. Breaking away from the traditional regional practice of blending and drying grapes, Allegrini chose to craft La Poja as a 100% Corvina Veronese monovarietal from fresh grapes. This bold decision showcased the true, unadulterated nobility of the Corvina grape. The wine is aged for approximately 20 months in new Allier French oak barriques, followed by significant bottle refinement. The result is a wine of extraordinary intensity, elegance, and complexity, marked by dark wild berries, spices, and a distinct mineral backbone.
