Solaia is sourced from a single 20-hectare vineyard situated on the Tignanello estate in the Chianti Classico region of Tuscany, characterized by limestone and clay soils at an altitude of approximately 350 to 400 meters. The 2018 vintage consists of a blend of 73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Sangiovese, and 7% Cabernet Franc. The 2018 growing season in Tuscany was defined by a cool spring with abundant rainfall, followed by a warm, consistent summer that allowed for gradual ripening and balanced acidity. The wine underwent malolactic fermentation in French oak barriques and was aged for approximately 18 months in new French oak before bottling and further refinement.

Tracing its winemaking heritage back to 1385 when Giovanni di Piero Antinori joined the Florentine Winemakers' Guild, Marchesi Antinori has been shaped by twenty-six generations of family leadership. Headquartered in the heart of Chianti Classico, the family has expanded its portfolio across prestigious estates in Tuscany, Umbria, and beyond, driven by a philosophy that balances deep historical respect with bold innovation. Antinori famously pioneered the "Super Tuscan" movement in the 1970s, introducing revolutionary French oak aging and international varieties to create iconic labels like Tignanello and Solaia. Today, their diverse portfolio spans from the elegant Sangiovese of Badia a Passignano to the acclaimed white blend Cervaro della Sala, cementing their legacy as global ambassadors of Italian fine wine.
