Villa Cigliano is the historic beating heart of the Antinori family, a stunning Renaissance estate in San Casciano in Val di Pesa that has belonged to the family since 1546. This Gran Selezione represents a profound connection to their ancestral roots. Crafted predominantly from Sangiovese grown on the estate's rolling hills, the wine benefits from a unique microclimate and soils rich in clay and limestone. Following the strict rules of the Gran Selezione classification, the grapes are meticulously selected and aged for at least 30 months, including extensive time in oak barrels. The result is a wine of immense grace and complexity, weaving together bright red cherry fruit, dried violets, earthy forest floor, and refined spice, reflecting the noble history of Tuscan winemaking.

🍾 wine.about_producer

Tracing its winemaking heritage back to 1385 when Giovanni di Piero Antinori joined the Florentine Winemakers' Guild, Marchesi Antinori has been shaped by twenty-six generations of family leadership. Headquartered in the heart of Chianti Classico, the family has expanded its portfolio across prestigious estates in Tuscany, Umbria, and beyond, driven by a philosophy that balances deep historical respect with bold innovation. Antinori famously pioneered the "Super Tuscan" movement in the 1970s, introducing revolutionary French oak aging and international varieties to create iconic labels like Tignanello and Solaia. Today, their diverse portfolio spans from the elegant Sangiovese of Badia a Passignano to the acclaimed white blend Cervaro della Sala, cementing their legacy as global ambassadors of Italian fine wine.
