While Au Bon Climat is globally celebrated for its historic Santa Barbara County Pinot Noirs, a 'Lala Panzi Vineyard' bottling is not a standard or widely documented release in their historic portfolio (Lala Panzi being a site famously located in Sonoma's Russian River Valley). However, Au Bon Climat's Pinot Noirs are universally defined by the late Jim Clendenen's steadfast commitment to the Burgundian ideal of balance, restraint, and longevity. Sourced from cool-climate, wind-swept vineyards, their Pinot Noirs are crafted using traditional methods: open-top fermentation, manual punch-downs, and aging in classic French oak barrels from François Frères. The resulting wines eschew the over-extracted, high-alcohol style once prevalent in California, instead offering high natural acidity, moderate alcohol, and a complex tapestry of tart red berries, earthy forest floor, and savory spices.

Au Bon Climat blev grundlagt i 1982 af den visionære, afdøde vinmager Jim Clendenen samt Adam Tolmach og ligger i det kølige klima i Santa Maria Valley i Santa Barbara County, Californien. Vingården, som har base i den anerkendte Bien Nacido Vineyard, opnåede international anerkendelse ved at satse på tilbageholdenhed, balance og klassiske burgundiske traditioner, længe før californisk køligklimavin for alvor blev populært.
