Azelia's classic Barolo DOCG represents a masterful marriage of two distinct terroirs: the Tortonian soils of Castiglione Falletto, which bestow elegance, floral aromatics, and silkiness, and the Helvetian soils of Serralunga d'Alba, which contribute power, deep structure, and intense tannins. This cuvée is crafted from Nebbiolo vines averaging 45 years of age. The winemaking philosophy combines traditional large Slavonian oak casks with modern temperature-controlled fermentation, resulting in a wine that honors the historic soul of Piedmont. Historically, blending across communes was the traditional way Barolo was made, ensuring a harmonious balance between the feminine grace of Castiglione and the masculine strength of Serralunga.

Established in 1920 by Cavalier Lorenzo Scavino, the Azelia estate is situated in the commune of Castiglione Falletto, in the heart of Italy's Piedmont region. Today, the winery is led by his grandson, Luigi Scavino, alongside his wife Lorella and son Lorenzo, who meticulously manage 16 hectares of prime vineyards spread across Castiglione Falletto and Serralunga d'Alba. Azelia is celebrated for its harmonious blend of modern and traditional winemaking techniques, employing extremely low yields and aging in both French barriques and traditional large Slavonian oak casks. The estate is highly renowned for its precise, elegant, and structured Barolo wines, particularly its single-vineyard expressions like Bricco Fiasco, San Rocco, and Margheria.
