✨ Technical Specifications
Bacardi Carta Negra, historically known as Bacardi Black, represents a rich legacy of Caribbean distillation that began in Cuba in 1862 before finding its modern home in Cataño, Puerto Rico. According to distillery lore, the iconic bat logo was suggested by the founder's wife, Doña Amalia, who noticed fruit bats nesting in the rafters of the original distillery—a symbol of good fortune, family unity, and health in Spanish and Taíno culture. This dark, medium-bodied spirit is crafted by the Maestros de Ron Bacardí using a proprietary blend of rums aged in heavily charred white oak barrels, then shaped through a secret mix of charcoals. The result is a robust profile defined by notes of sweet tropical fruit, molasses, buttery caramel, and a warm, smoky finish.
🍾 About the Producer
Founded in Santiago de Cuba in 1862 by Don Facundo Bacardí Massó, Bacardi revolutionized rum production by introducing revolutionary techniques such as single-strain yeast isolation, purposeful charcoal filtration, and purposeful white oak barrel aging. Following the Cuban Revolution, the company relocated and established major operations at Casa Bacardí in Cataño, Puerto Rico, which stands today as one of the largest and most sophisticated rum distilleries in the world. Bacardi remains a proudly family-owned enterprise committed to crafting clean, balanced, and approachable spirits that serve as cornerstones of global cocktail culture. Their iconic portfolio ranges from the mixology benchmark Carta Blanca Superior White rum to richly aged sipping expressions like Reserva Ocho and the ultra-premium Facundo collection.
