Barón de Funes is a prominent label produced by Bodegas Esteban Martín, an estate established in 2003 by Miguel Antonio Esteban and Asunción Martín in the historic D.O.P. Cariñena within Aragón, Spain. Rooted in land acquired in 1985 at the foothills of the Sierra de Algairén, the family cultivates approximately 400 hectares situated between 400 and 800 meters of elevation. The terroir features stony, gravel-rich red limestone soils and experiences a harsh continental microclimate moderated by the cool, dry 'Cierzo' wind, which naturally minimizes vine pests and fungal risks. Emphasizing sustainable agriculture with vegan certification and ozone-treated canopy management, the estate produces varietally expressive wines. The Barón de Funes Rosé, crafted primarily from Garnacha, delivers a bright salmon-pink hue, fresh raspberry and red currant aromatics, vibrant acidity, and an inviting, balanced palate designed for versatile gastronomic pairing.
