Hailing from one of the most iconic vineyard sites in California, the Bedrock Wine Co. Bien Nacido Vineyard X-Block Syrah is a masterclass in cool-climate viticulture. Located in the wind-swept, fog-laden Santa Maria Valley of Santa Barbara County, the legendary X-Block was originally planted in 1973 to Riesling and grafted over to Syrah in 1986, making these some of the oldest Syrah vines in the state. The maritime influence and sandy soils of this historic site yield a wine of profound complexity and structure. Winemaker Morgan Twain-Peterson MW employs traditional techniques, including significant whole-cluster fermentation and aging in mostly neutral French oak puncheons, to preserve the vineyard's distinct voice. The resulting Syrah is highly aromatic, characterized by classic cool-climate signatures of cracked black pepper, olive tapenade, smoked game, and dark brambly fruit, balanced by vibrant acidity and fine-grained tannins.

Founded in 2007 by winemaker Morgan Twain-Peterson MW, Bedrock Wine Co. is rooted in Sonoma, California, with a devoted mission to rehabilitate and preserve the state's historic old-vine vineyards.
