Hailing from the rugged terrain of Amador County's Shenandoah Valley, the Esola Vineyard Zinfandel is a brilliant testament to the Sierra Foothills' viticultural history. Planted in the late 1960s on granitic and quartz-laden soils, these head-trained, dry-farmed old vines are lovingly tended by Denise Esola. While Amador County is historically known for producing dense, high-alcohol Zinfandels, the Esola Vineyard defies this stereotype. Thanks to its unique clone and granite soils, it yields a wine of remarkable energy, high natural acidity, and lower pH. Bedrock Wine Co. coaxes out this distinctive personality through native yeast fermentation and aging in neutral French oak, resulting in an aromatic tour de force filled with bright pomegranate, wild raspberry, cracked black pepper, and mountain herb notes.
