Hailing from the historic Lorenzo's Vineyard in Sonoma's Dry Creek Valley, Bedrock Wine Co.'s Lorenzo's Heritage (often referred to as Lorenzo's Heirloom) is a liquid monument to California's viticultural past. Originally planted in 1909 by Italian immigrant Lorenzo Teldeschi, this dry-farmed, old-vine field blend is rooted in gravelly clay loam soils. The wine is a classic field blend dominated by Zinfandel, supported by substantial portions of Carignan and Petite Sirah, along with trace amounts of other heritage varieties. Winemaker Morgan Twain-Peterson MW employs traditional, minimal-intervention techniques, including native yeast fermentation and aging in predominantly used French oak barrels. This preserves the vineyard's distinct signature: a striking balance of Zinfandel's bright, briary fruit, Carignan's vibrant acidity, and Petite Sirah's deep, structural tannins, resulting in a complex, multi-layered red that honors over a century of farming history.
