Old Hill Ranch is widely considered one of the crown jewels of California viticulture. Originally planted in 1851 by pioneer William McPherson Hill in the heart of Sonoma Valley, this historic site represents a living archive of pre-Prohibition farming. Bedrock Wine Co. crafts this Heritage wine from these ancient, head-trained vines, which grow in iron-rich, volcanic clay loam soils. The wine is a classic field blend dominated by Zinfandel, but co-fermented with over thirty other varieties, including Grenache, Alicante Bouschet, Petite Sirah, and Syrah. Winemaker Morgan Twain-Peterson MW employs minimal-intervention techniques, utilizing native yeasts and aging in French oak barrels to let the vineyard's unique voice shine. The result is a deeply complex, savory, and structured red wine that balances dark fruit flavors with wild herb, spice, and earthy undertones, reflecting the profound depth of California's oldest vines.
