Hailing from the historic Under the Mountain Vineyard, situated at the eastern base of the Santa Cruz Mountains in the Santa Clara Valley, this heritage red wine is a liquid testament to California's viticultural past. Planted in the 1910s, the vineyard features ancient, own-rooted vines that struggle through gravelly loam soils. The field blend is anchored by Zinfandel and complemented by Carignan and other mixed black varieties. Bedrock Wine Co. employs traditional, low-intervention winemaking techniques, including native yeast fermentation and aging in mostly used French oak barrels, to let the site's unique voice speak. The resulting wine is remarkably complex, balancing dark brambly fruit, cracked black pepper, and a distinct stony minerality that reflects its dramatic mountain-shadowed terroir.

Bedrock Wine Co. blev grundlagt i Sonoma, Californien, i 2007 af vinmageren Morgan Twain-Peterson MW med en dedikeret mission om at genoprette og bevare statens historiske vinmarker med gamle vinstokke. Med udgangspunkt i den legendariske Bedrock Vineyard i Sonoma Valley – som oprindeligt blev tilplantet i midten af det 19. århundrede – hylder Twain-Peterson og hans partner Chris Cottrell Californiens vinarv gennem en minimalistisk og terroir-drevet vinifikation. Vingården skaber vitale og stedtypiske vine på klassiske, historiske field blends såvel som traditionelle druesorter som Zinfandel, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon og Chardonnay. Bedrocks aftapninger er berømte for deres energi og autenticitet, og især den ikoniske Bedrock Heritage samt enkeltmarksvinene fra gamle vinstokke står i dag som uomgængelige pejlemærker for klassisk californisk vinkunst.
