Beringer's Bancroft Ranch Merlot is a landmark expression of mountain-grown Merlot, sourced from the prestigious Howell Mountain AVA in Napa Valley. Sourced from the Bancroft Ranch vineyard, which sits at an elevation of approximately 1,800 feet, the vines struggle in white tufa volcanic soils above the valley fog line. This unique terroir produces small, thick-skinned berries with highly concentrated flavors. Historically, this bottling helped redefine California Merlot, proving that the variety could achieve the same power, structure, and longevity as Napa's finest Cabernet Sauvignons. Typically aged in French oak barrels, this wine is celebrated for its deep color, robust mountain tannins, and complex layers of dark blackberry, espresso, wild herbs, and graphite.
