Beringer's 'Nightingale' is one of California's most legendary sweet dessert wines, born from the visionary work of winemaker Myron Nightingale and his wife, Alice. In the mid-20th century, the couple pioneered a revolutionary, patented technique to induce Botrytis cinerea (noble rot) on harvested Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc grapes in a controlled winery environment, mimicking the rare natural conditions of Bordeaux's Sauternes region. By dusting grapes with botrytis spores in custom-designed rooms, they created a luscious, honeyed nectar. Aged in French oak barrels, this golden wine offers complex layers of dried apricot, honey, toasted nuts, and sweet spice, standing as a monument to Napa Valley's spirit of scientific innovation and artistic winemaking.
