The name 'Auf der Grenze' (On the Border) is a literal testament to Weingut Bernhart's unique geography. Situated in Schweigen-Rechtenbach, the estate's vineyards straddle the boundary between Germany's Pfalz region and France's Alsace. This historic cross-border arrangement dates back to post-WWII treaties that allowed German vintners to continue cultivating their ancestral plots on French soil. This Weissburgunder is grown on these limestone-rich slopes, where the vines benefit from a cool microclimate and deep mineral soils. The wine is crafted to highlight this dual heritage, combining the structured precision of German winemaking with the rich, textured elegance reminiscent of Alsatian whites. Fermented and aged partially in traditional large oak casks, it offers a beautiful balance of ripe orchard fruit, subtle nutty undertones, and a vibrant, saline minerality.

Weingut Bernhart ligger i Schweigen-Rechtenbach ved Pfalz' sydligste spids klos op ad den franske grænse. Det anerkendte familiedomæne er berømt for elegant at forene tyske og alsassiske vindyrkningstraditioner. Vingården ledes af Gerd Bernhart, som har været medlem af det prestigefyldte VDP siden 2004, og her skabes udtryksfulde, terroir-præcise vine fra historiske parceller, der strækker sig på tværs af landegrænsen, såsom Schweigener Sonnenberg.
