Weingut Bernhart's 'R' Sptburgunder is a masterclass in cross-border terroir, sourced from vineyards in Schweigen that physically cross the boundary between Germany and Alsace, France. This unique geopolitical heritage allows the grapes to benefit from the highly prized Kalkmergel (limestone marl) soils that characterize this historic borderland. The 'R' designation signifies a reserve bottling of exceptional quality, where the finest Sptburgunder clones are meticulously selected, fermented traditionally, and aged in French oak barriques. The result is a wine of profound depth, marrying Burgundian elegance and silky textures with the vibrant, sun-drenched fruit character of the southern Pfalz. Weingut Bernhart ligger i Schweigen-Rechtenbach ved Pfalz' sydligste spids klos op ad den franske grænse. Det anerkendte familiedomæne er berømt for elegant at forene tyske og alsassiske vindyrkningstraditioner.
