✨ Technical Specifications

Grown in the unique borderlands of Schweigen, where the vineyards of the Pfalz seamlessly merge into French Alsace, Weingut Bernhart's Reserve Sauvignon Blanc is a masterclass in cool-climate complexity. The vines thrive on the region's historic Kalkmergel (limestone marl) soils, which impart a distinct, chalky minerality to the fruit. Rather than pursuing the intensely grassy, high-acid style common in the New World, Bernhart crafts this Reserve in a highly structured, European fashion. Fermented and matured in French oak barrels with extended lees contact, the wine develops a beautifully textured palate, balancing vibrant citrus and gooseberry notes with sophisticated undertones of smoky flint, brioche, and wild herbs.

🍾 About the Producer

Located in Schweigen-Rechtenbach at the southernmost tip of the Pfalz along the French border, Weingut Bernhart is a distinguished family-run estate renowned for bridging German and Alsatian viticultural traditions. Led by Gerd Bernhart, a member of the prestigious VDP since 2004, the estate crafts expressive, site-transparent wines from venerable cross-border sites like the Schweigener Sonnenberg. The winery is celebrated for its deep limestone-rich terroirs, which yield extraordinarily mineral, complex, and age-worthy Burgundian varieties—notably refined Spätburgunder, Weissburgunder, and Chardonnay—alongside tension-filled, crystalline dry Rieslings.
