The Schweigener Sonnenberg Riesling EG is born from one of the most politically and geologically intriguing terroirs in Europe, where the vineyards of Weingut Bernhart straddle the border between Germany's Pfalz region and French Alsace. This unique cross-border heritage dates back to post-WWII agreements allowing German vintners to continue farming their historic plots on French soil. The Sonnenberg's complex limestone marl (Kalkmergel) soils impart a distinctive, intense minerality and structural precision to the Riesling. Fermented and aged with minimal intervention to preserve its sense of place, this wine showcases a brilliant tension between ripe stone fruits, vibrant citrus, and a deep, salty mineral core that reflects the ancient marine deposits of the vineyard.
