While Bombay Sapphire is a world-renowned London Dry Gin rather than a traditional wine, its production is steeped in artisanal craftsmanship. Launched in 1987, it revitalized the gin category with its distinctive translucent blue bottle, named in honor of the Star of Bombay sapphire. Distilled at the historic Laverstoke Mill in Hampshire, England, this spirit utilizes a unique vapor-infusion process. Instead of boiling the botanicals directly in the spirit, the grain alcohol vapor passes through copper baskets containing ten hand-selected botanicals—including juniper berries, grains of paradise, coriander, cubeb berries, and almond. This delicate method coaxes out bright, floral, and citrusy aromatic oils, resulting in a remarkably smooth, balanced, and complex London Dry style.
