Boschendal's Vin D'Or (French for 'Golden Wine') is a luscious Noble Late Harvest dessert wine that pays tribute to the historic sweet wines of the Cape, which captivated European royalty in the 18th and 19th centuries. Crafted in the Coastal Region, this wine relies on the natural occurrence of Botrytis cinerea (noble rot) in the vineyards. The morning mists from the surrounding mountains, followed by warm afternoon sunshine, create the perfect conditions for the grapes to shrivel and concentrate their natural sugars, acids, and flavors. The hand-harvested grapes undergo a slow, careful fermentation to preserve the intense aromas of honeyed citrus, dried apricots, and delicate spice, resulting in a beautifully balanced sweet wine with a vibrant core of acidity.
