While the estate is globally renowned for its cellaring-grade Hunter Valley Semillon, the 8 Rows label represents an approachable, fresh, and highly aromatic style designed for immediate enjoyment. The name pays tribute to the meticulous, small-scale vineyard management where specific rows are selected to achieve the perfect balance of fruit profile and acidity. By blending the expressive, tropical, and herbaceous qualities of Sauvignon Blanc with the structural lemon-lime spine of Semillon, Brokenwood crafts a beautifully balanced wine. Fermented entirely in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, this wine undergoes no oak aging, ensuring that the pristine fruit flavors and crisp, clean regional character remain the absolute focus.
🍾 Om vinhuset / producenten
Brokenwood Wines blev grundlagt i 1970 af Sydney-advokaterne Tony Albert og John Beeston samt den anerkendte vinkritiker James Halliday, og det hele startede på en beskeden parcel på 10 acres i Pokolbin i New South Wales' Hunter Valley. Gennem årtier har vingården under ledelse af den erfarne direktør og chefvinmager Iain Riggs udviklet sig fra et passioneret weekendprojekt til en af Australiens mest prestigefyldte og toneangivende producenter. Brokenwood arbejder ud fra en filosofi om præcis, minimalistisk vinfremstilling, hvor terroiret og den rene druesortskarakter får lov til at skinne igennem – både i frugten fra egne marker i Hunter Valley og i nøje udvalgte parceller fra andre dele af Australien. Huset har opnået international anerkendelse for især sine sprøde, lagringsværdige Semillon-vine fra Hunter Valley og flagskibet Graveyard Vineyard Shiraz, side om side med populære hverdagsklassikere som den ikoniske Cricket Pitch-serie.
