The story of Brokenwood's Cricket Pitch White is inextricably linked to the winery's playful and community-minded origins. In 1970, the founders cleared a portion of their newly acquired Hunter Valley property to plant vines, but famously spared a flat, grassy tract to establish a cricket pitch. This pitch became the site of legendary social matches against rival wineries and visiting teams. The Cricket Pitch White was created to capture this spirited, social energy. Traditionally crafted as a vibrant blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon sourced from premium vineyards across South Eastern Australia, this wine undergoes cool fermentation in stainless steel to preserve its bright, aromatic profile. It represents a classic Australian style, marrying the tropical punch and herbaceous lift of Sauvignon Blanc with the crisp, citrusy structure and refreshing acidity of Semillon.

Brokenwood Wines blev grundlagt i 1970 af Sydney-advokaterne James Halliday, John Beeston og Tony Albert på en fire hektar stor parcel i Pokolbin, som oprindeligt var tiltænkt en cricketbane. Vinhuset ligger i det sydlige Hunter Valley op mod Brokenback-bjergkæden, hvor terroiret er præget af alluviale lerjorde og tung lerjord under indflydelse af et varmt, subtropisk klima med kølende havbriser. Selvom ejendommen historisk set har haft sit anker i den berømte Graveyard Vineyard Shiraz, har Brokenwood opnået mindst lige så stor international anerkendelse for sine rene og bemærkelsesværdigt lagringsdygtige hvidvine. Markerne dyrkes efter certificerede principper under Sustainable Winegrowing Australia, og i kælderen videreføres arbejdet i dag af chefvinmager Stuart Hordern efter Iain Riggs' skelsættende æra. Blandt husets ikoniske benchmarks er den fadløse ILR Reserve Semillon, som er berømt for sin stringente energi, lave alkohol, sprøde citrussyre og komplekse ristede toastnoter opnået gennem flaskemodning, foruden enkeltmarksvine som Stanleigh Park Vineyard Semillon og mineralske cool-climate chardonnayer fra Beechworth og Orange.
