The story of Brokenwood's Cricket Pitch White is inextricably linked to the winery's playful and community-minded origins. In 1970, the founders cleared a portion of their newly acquired Hunter Valley property to plant vines, but famously spared a flat, grassy tract to establish a cricket pitch. This pitch became the site of legendary social matches against rival wineries and visiting teams. The Cricket Pitch White was created to capture this spirited, social energy. Traditionally crafted as a vibrant blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon sourced from premium vineyards across South Eastern Australia, this wine undergoes cool fermentation in stainless steel to preserve its bright, aromatic profile. It represents a classic Australian style, marrying the tropical punch and herbaceous lift of Sauvignon Blanc with the crisp, citrusy structure and refreshing acidity of Semillon.

Brokenwood Wines blev grundlagt i 1970 af Sydney-advokaterne Tony Albert og John Beeston samt den anerkendte vinkritiker James Halliday, og det hele startede på en beskeden parcel på 10 acres i Pokolbin i New South Wales' Hunter Valley. Gennem årtier har vingården under ledelse af den erfarne direktør og chefvinmager Iain Riggs udviklet sig fra et passioneret weekendprojekt til en af Australiens mest prestigefyldte og toneangivende producenter. Brokenwood arbejder ud fra en filosofi om præcis, minimalistisk vinfremstilling, hvor terroiret og den rene druesortskarakter får lov til at skinne igennem – både i frugten fra egne marker i Hunter Valley og i nøje udvalgte parceller fra andre dele af Australien. Huset har opnået international anerkendelse for især sine sprøde, lagringsværdige Semillon-vine fra Hunter Valley og flagskibet Graveyard Vineyard Shiraz, side om side med populære hverdagsklassikere som den ikoniske Cricket Pitch-serie.
