While Brokenwood is proudly anchored in the Hunter Valley, they have sourced fruit from this iconic McLaren Vale site since 1978. Planted on the unique, ancient sandy soils of the region, these old vines produce a Shiraz of incredible depth, structure, and complexity. Unlike the medium-bodied, savory style of the Hunter Valley, the Rayner Vineyard Shiraz showcases the rich, dark-fruited, and chocolatey characters typical of McLaren Vale, balanced by fine-grained tannins from careful maturation in French oak. Established in 1970 by Sydney lawyers Tony Albert, John Beeston, and acclaimed wine critic James Halliday, Brokenwood Wines began on a modest 10-acre block in Pokolbin within the Hunter Valley of New South Wales.
