Brokenwood's Hunter Valley Semillon is a definitive expression of one of the wine world's most unique and celebrated styles. Sourced from premium vineyards across the Hunter Valley, this wine is crafted with a philosophy of purity and patience. Historically, Hunter Valley Semillon was often referred to as 'Hunter Valley Riesling' or 'White Burgundy' by early settlers, but it has since rightfully claimed its own identity. The grapes are harvested early at lower sugar levels to maintain a vibrant, natural acidity and a lower alcohol profile. Fermented entirely in stainless steel without any oak contact or malolactic fermentation, the wine captures the pristine, laser-sharp essence of the grape. In its youth, it is incredibly fresh, driven by bright citrus and lemongrass notes, but it possesses an almost magical ability to transform in the cellar, developing rich, complex characters of toasted brioche, beeswax, and honey without ever seeing a stave of oak.
