Hailing from the sun-drenched vineyards of Sicily, Cantine Nicosia's Balanubi Malvasia is a tribute to the island's ancient tradition of crafting luscious dessert wines. The Malvasia grape, with its deep historical roots in the Mediterranean dating back to Greek antiquity, thrives in the intense Sicilian heat and light. Under the Balanubi label, Nicosia crafts a 'Liquoroso' style sweet wine that captures the essence of this aromatic grape. The wine undergoes a controlled fermentation that is halted by the addition of fine wine alcohol, preserving the natural, honeyed sweetness and rich floral aromatics of the grapes. This process yields a golden-hued nectar steeped in history, evoking the exotic, spice-laden trade winds that have crossed Sicily for millennia.

Cantine Nicosia er en historisk siciliansk vingård, grundlagt i 1898 af Francesco Nicosia og beliggende på Etnas østlige skråninger i Trecastagni. Gennem fem generationer i familiens eje har vinhuset etableret sig som en passioneret ambassadør for Siciliens vulkanske terroir og oprindelige druesorter – altid med fokus på certificeret økologisk vindyrkning og moderne, bæredygtig vinfremstilling. Ejendommen er særligt anerkendt for sine udtryksfulde cru-vine fra Monte Gorna samt den sofistikerede Sosta Tre Santi-kollektion, der forener terroirprægede røde og hvide Etna DOC-vine med fremragende Metodo Classico-mousserende vine skabt på Carricante og Nerello Mascalese.
