Casa Silva's Microterroir Carmenere is the culmination of a groundbreaking scientific study conducted in partnership with the University of Talca to map the diverse soils of the Los Lingues estate at the foot of the Andes. This research allowed the Silva family to identify specific micro-plots where Carmenere achieves absolute perfection. Historically, Carmenere was lost to Europe during the phylloxera epidemic and survived in Chile disguised as Merlot until its dramatic rediscovery in 1994. This cuvee represents the pinnacle of that resurrection, showcasing how precise soil management can elevate this late-ripening variety. Hand-harvested and meticulously sorted, the wine undergoes fermentation in small stainless steel tanks before aging in French oak barrels, resulting in a remarkably complex, elegant expression of Colchagua's unique terroir.
