The legendary Clos d'Ambonnay represents the absolute pinnacle of single-vineyard Champagne, sourced from a tiny, walled 0.68-hectare plot in the heart of the Grand Cru village of Ambonnay. Purchased by the Krug family in 1984, this exceptional terroir is planted entirely with Pinot Noir. Though technically vinified as a Blanc de Noirs, the wine's immense concentration, traditional fermentation in small oak casks, and extended cellar aging imbue it with a majestic, deep golden-copper hue and a remarkably vinous, robust character that flirts with the boundaries of a still red Burgundy. It is a rare masterpiece of power, elegance, and precise terroir expression, produced only in the most exceptional vintages.

Maison Krug was established in Reims in 1843 by visionary merchant Joseph Krug, who sought to craft the most generous expression of Champagne annually, regardless of climatic variations. Situated in the heart of Champagne, the maison draws fruit from premier and grand cru parcels spanning the limestone-rich terroirs of the Montagne de Reims, Côte des Blancs, and Vallée de la Marne, supplemented by historic walled monopoles like Clos du Mesnil and Clos d'Ambonnay. Viticulture is conducted under rigorous sustainable standards, eschewing herbicides and synthetic insecticides while adhering to Viticulture Durable en Champagne (VDC) frameworks.
