The Krug Grande Cuvée 159ème Édition represents the 159th recreation of founder Joseph Krug's vision to craft the most generous expression of Champagne every single year, transcending the limitations of vintage weather. This specific edition is built around the historically challenging and exceptionally warm harvest of 2003, a year of extreme frosts followed by a scorching summer. To achieve the signature Krug complexity and balance despite the heat of 2003, the house blended 120 different wines from 10 distinct vintages, with the oldest reserve wines dating back to the legendary 1988 harvest. Fermented traditionally in small oak casks, this multi-vintage masterpiece offers an unparalleled depth of flavor, combining notes of dried citrus, toasted brioche, honeyed gingerbread, and roasted hazelnuts with a remarkably vibrant, mineral-driven finish.

Maison Krug was established in Reims in 1843 by visionary merchant Joseph Krug, who sought to craft the most generous expression of Champagne annually, regardless of climatic variations. Situated in the heart of Champagne, the maison draws fruit from premier and grand cru parcels spanning the limestone-rich terroirs of the Montagne de Reims, Côte des Blancs, and Vallée de la Marne, supplemented by historic walled monopoles like Clos du Mesnil and Clos d'Ambonnay. Viticulture is conducted under rigorous sustainable standards, eschewing herbicides and synthetic insecticides while adhering to Viticulture Durable en Champagne (VDC) frameworks. Krug's foundational cellar philosophy centers on plot-by-plot vinification, fermenting base wines primarily in aged 205-liter oak barrels.
