The Krug Grande Cuvee 171eme Edition represents the 171st annual recreation of founder Joseph Krug's vision: to offer the most generous expression of Champagne every single year, regardless of climate variations. Crafted around the harvest of 2015, a year of dramatic heat and drought, this edition is a masterclass in blending. It harmonizes 131 individual reserve wines from 12 different years, with the oldest dating back to 2000. This meticulous assembly consists of 45% Pinot Noir, 37% Chardonnay, and 18% Meunier, all fermented in traditional small oak casks. After resting for around seven years on its lees in the Reims cellars, the 171eme Edition emerges with unparalleled complexity, tension, and a rich, golden hue, embodying a legacy of uncompromising craftsmanship that has endured since 1843.

Maison Krug was established in Reims in 1843 by visionary merchant Joseph Krug, who sought to craft the most generous expression of Champagne annually, regardless of climatic variations. Situated in the heart of Champagne, the maison draws fruit from premier and grand cru parcels spanning the limestone-rich terroirs of the Montagne de Reims, Côte des Blancs, and Vallée de la Marne, supplemented by historic walled monopoles like Clos du Mesnil and Clos d'Ambonnay. Viticulture is conducted under rigorous sustainable standards, eschewing herbicides and synthetic insecticides while adhering to Viticulture Durable en Champagne (VDC) frameworks. Krug's foundational cellar philosophy centers on plot-by-plot vinification, fermenting base wines primarily in aged 205-liter oak barrels. Under Chef de Cave Julie Cavil, hundreds of distinct still wines and an extensive library of reserve vintages are systematically evaluated.
