The 'Mudd' red blend is a soulful tribute to one of Long Island's viticultural cornerstones: the historic Mudd Vineyard in Southold, originally planted by agricultural pioneer Donald Mudd in 1974. Sourced from these venerable vines on the North Fork, Channing Daughters crafts this red blend to capture the unique maritime terroir of the region. The vineyard's well-drained sandy loam soils and tempering ocean breezes yield fruit with remarkable balance, vibrant acidity, and fine-grained tannins. Winemaker Christopher Tracy employs low-intervention techniques, including wild yeast fermentation and aging in seasoned oak, to allow the site's distinct personality to shine. The result is a savory, medium-bodied red that beautifully reflects the history and maritime spirit of eastern Long Island.
