Channing Daughters Ramato is a pioneering American interpretation of the historic Friulian style of skin-contact Pinot Grigio. The term 'Ramato' translates to 'coppery' in Italian, referencing the beautiful amber-pink hue achieved by fermenting the juice on its skins. This wine pays homage to old-world Italian traditions while showcasing the unique maritime terroir of Long Island's South Fork. Grown in the silt loam soils of Bridgehampton, the grapes are hand-harvested and fermented with wild yeasts in open-top vessels. The skin contact coaxes out complex aromas of dried stone fruits, honey, and baking spices, alongside a distinct textural grip and savory salinity that reflects the cooling Atlantic breezes.
