Yellow Chartreuse, or 'Chartreuse Jaune,' was first formulated in 1838 by Brother Bruno Jacquet as a milder, sweeter companion to the intense Green Chartreuse. Bearing the traditional label 'Fabriquée par les Pères Chartreux,' this legendary liqueur is crafted from a secret recipe of 130 botanicals macerated in a grape spirit base and aged in large oak tuns. Its distinctive yellow hue is entirely natural, derived largely from saffron. Rich in history, the liqueur survived the expulsion of the monks from France to Tarragona, Spain, and their eventual return.
