The 2018 growing season at Lafite was a dramatic tale of two halves, starting with a remarkably wet spring that demanded intense vigilance in the vineyards, followed by a hot, dry summer that allowed the grapes to reach an extraordinary state of concentration and phenolic ripeness. This vintage beautifully showcases the estate's deep gravel soils, which provided perfect drainage and heat retention. The wine was aged for 20 months in 100% new oak barrels crafted at the château's own cooperage. The result is a monumentally structured Lafite, displaying an exquisite balance of dense dark fruit, graphite, and signature cedar notes, wrapped in incredibly fine-grained, velvety tannins that promise decades of evolution.
