✨ wine.spec_sheet

Codorniu stands as a titan of Spanish winemaking history, with roots tracing back to 1551. In 1872, Josep Raventós made history by crafting Spain's very first sparkling wine using the traditional method in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia, laying the foundation for the Cava DO. The Extra Codorniu Brut is a vibrant tribute to this legacy, showcasing the classic Catalan trilogy of grapes: Macabeo, which brings sweet citrus and freshness; Xarel·lo, providing structure and acidity; and Parellada, contributing delicate floral aromas. Grown in the sun-drenched, Mediterranean-influenced vineyards of the Penedès, the grapes undergo secondary fermentation in the bottle and age on their lees in the labyrinthine underground cellars of Codorníu. This process infuses the wine with fine, persistent bubbles and a subtle touch of toasted brioche alongside its bright green apple and citrus core.

Founded in 1551, Codorníu is Spain's oldest family business and a pioneering force in the creation of Cava, located in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia within the Penedès region. In 1872, Josep Raventós Fatjó made history by producing the country's first traditional-method sparkling wine, establishing a legacy of innovation that continues to define the house today. The winery is celebrated for its historic modernist cellars, designed by Josep Puig i Cadafalch, where they craft elegant white and rosé sparkling wines. Codorníu is particularly renowned for introducing international varieties like Chardonnay and Pinot Noir to the region, showcased in iconic expressions such as the Anna de Codorníu range and the prestigious ARS Collecta micro-terroir series.
