Compass Box Oak Cross is a masterfully crafted Blended Malt Scotch Whisky that represents a bridge between two distinct oak maturation styles. The name 'Oak Cross' refers to the innovative use of both American and French oak. To create this expression, Compass Box sources high-quality single malt whiskies from renowned Highland distilleries, principally Teaninich, Clynelish, and Dailuaine. A portion of these whiskies is matured in first-fill American oak ex-bourbon barrels, providing a sweet, vanilla-driven foundation. Another portion is finished in custom-designed casks featuring heavily toasted French oak heads, imparting a rich, clove-like spice and structural complexity. This marriage of sweet American oak and spicy French oak creates a beautifully balanced, multi-layered whisky that showcases the art of modern blending.
