In 2005, Compass Box launched 'The Spice Tree,' a revolutionary blended malt that pushed the boundaries of traditional Scotch whisky maturation by inserting toasted French oak staves into the casks. This innovative technique drew the ire of the Scotch Whisky Association, leading to an infamous ban. Undeterred, founder John Glaser re-engineered the process using custom casks with heavily toasted French oak heads. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of this legendary battle and triumph, Compass Box released the 'Spice Tree Extravaganza.' This limited edition builds upon the classic Spice Tree blueprint, incorporating older component whiskies and a significant portion of sherry-cask matured malt. The result is a deeper, more decadent spirit bursting with rich baking spices, dark fruits, and a velvety, warming finish.
