Amelia Pinot Noir represents Concha y Toro's quest to express the unique, cool-climate terroir of the Limar Valley in the northern Coquimbo region. Named in honor of Amelia Subercaseaux, a woman of pioneering spirit and wife of the winery's founder, this wine is sourced from the Quebrada Seca vineyard, situated a mere 22 kilometers from the Pacific Ocean. Here, the vines are heavily influenced by the cool coastal breezes and the morning 'camanchaca' fog, which slows ripening and preserves vibrant acidity. Crucially, the soils are rich in clay and calcium carbonate (limestone)—a rare geological feature in Chile—which imparts a distinctive mineral tension, chalky texture, and refined structure to the wine. Aged in French oak barrels, it showcases a sophisticated balance of red fruit, earthy undertones, and elegant coastal freshness.
