Courvoisier's 'Napoleon' Cognac holds a legendary place in spirits history, intimately tied to the legacy of Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte. According to historical accounts, Napoleon visited the warehouses of Courvoisier's founders in Bercy in 1811, and years later, British officers aboard the HMS Northumberland coined the term 'The Cognac of Napoleon' after enjoying the spirit during the emperor's journey to exile on St. Helena. To honor this heritage, Courvoisier pioneered the 'Napoleon' category, positioning this bottling between their VSOP and XO expressions. It is crafted from a meticulous selection of mature eaux-de-vie sourced primarily from the prestigious Grande and Petite Champagne crus. Aged in bespoke French oak casks, it develops a deeply complex profile characterized by notes of dried apricots, orange peel, sandalwood, and warm baking spices.
