✨ Technical Specifications
Craigellachie is legendary among Scotch enthusiasts for its stubborn refusal to modernize, clinging to its traditional copper worm tubs which impart a heavy, sulfurous, and wonderfully muscular character to the spirit. The Exceptional Cask Series represents the absolute pinnacle of this defiant Speyside distillery's output, curated by Master Blender Stephanie Macleod. Distilled in November 1980 and matured for nearly four decades before being bottled in 2019, Cask No. 2037 is an extraordinary relic of a bygone era. Over 39 years of slumber, the spirit's aggressive, meaty youth has softened into an incredibly complex tapestry of tropical fruits, toasted almonds, delicate oak spice, and a whisper of campfire smoke, all while retaining that signature Craigellachie oiliness and weight.
🍾 About the Producer
Founded in 1891 by Alexander Edward and legendary whisky pioneer Peter Mackie, Craigellachie Distillery stands proudly in the heart of Speyside, Scotland, overlooking the confluence of the rivers Spey and Fiddich. Renowned for its architectural heritage designed by Charles Doig, the distillery is celebrated for its steadfast dedication to traditional production methods, notably the continued use of traditional copper worm tub condensers. This distinctive distillation approach imparts a robust, muscular, and sulfurous character to the spirit, balanced by vibrant tropical fruitiness and rich malt complexity. Today owned by John Dewar & Sons under Bacardi, Craigellachie produces acclaimed, characterful single malt Scotch whiskies that stand out as bold and non-conformist within the Speyside region.
