✨ Technical Specifications
Craigellachie is legendary among whisky enthusiasts for its stubborn adherence to traditional, old-school production methods, most notably its continued use of traditional copper worm tubs. This slow condensation process leaves a heavy, muscular, and sulfurous character in the new-make spirit. The Exceptional Cask Series represents a curated collection of single casks hand-selected by Malt Master Stephanie Macleod. Cask No. 4575 is a first-fill Oloroso sherry butt filled in 1995 and bottled in 2019 after 23 years of maturation. This long slumber in rich sherry wood beautifully tames and integrates Craigellachie's signature pineapple, oil, and cordite notes, wrapping them in luxurious layers of dark chocolate, stewed plums, and exotic spices.
🍾 About the Producer
Founded in 1891 by Alexander Edward and legendary whisky pioneer Peter Mackie, Craigellachie Distillery stands proudly in the heart of Speyside, Scotland, overlooking the confluence of the rivers Spey and Fiddich. Renowned for its architectural heritage designed by Charles Doig, the distillery is celebrated for its steadfast dedication to traditional production methods, notably the continued use of traditional copper worm tub condensers. This distinctive distillation approach imparts a robust, muscular, and sulfurous character to the spirit, balanced by vibrant tropical fruitiness and rich malt complexity. Today owned by John Dewar & Sons under Bacardi, Craigellachie produces acclaimed, characterful single malt Scotch whiskies that stand out as bold and non-conformist within the Speyside region.
