At the heart of its distinctive character is the continued use of copper worm tubs—cold water tanks containing coiled copper pipes used to condense the spirit. This process limits copper contact, leaving a heavy, sulfurous, and meaty distillate. When matured in a refill bourbon cask, such as this 'Full Cask' single cask selection, the wood plays a supporting role. Rather than dominating with heavy oak and vanilla, the refill cask allows Craigellachie's muscular, pineapple-tinged, and savory spirit character to take center stage, creating a dram of remarkable complexity, texture, and historical resonance.
