CVNE’s Corona Gran Reserva is a legendary jewel of Rioja, representing a historic style of white winemaking that has nearly vanished. Founded in 1879 in Haro’s Barrio de la Estación, CVNE created Corona as a tribute to traditional, ultra-aged white Rioja. Historically crafted primarily from Viura with a touch of Malvasía, this wine is famous for its unique production method, which occasionally welcomed noble rot (botrytis) in the vineyard—a rarity in Spain. It undergoes extensive aging in neutral American oak casks followed by years in the bottle, developing a deep golden hue and an incredibly complex aromatic profile of dried apricots, beeswax, toasted nuts, and chamomile. It stands as a testament to the monumental aging potential of Rioja’s white grapes.

Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España (CVNE) blev grundlagt i 1879 af brødrene Raimundo og Eusebio Real de Asúa og er et af Riojas mest prestigefyldte og historiske vinhuse, med base i det ikoniske Barrio de la Estación i Haro. Vingården drives den dag i dag af grundlæggernes efterkommere, som forener klassiske vinfremstillingstraditioner med nytænkende innovation på tværs af husets forskellige ejendomme og kældre. CVNE er berømt for at skabe verdensklasse, lagringsdygtige vine med fokus på elegance, struktur og balance, hvor Tempranillo og andre lokale Rioja-druer spiller hovedrollen. Porteføljen rummer legendariske milepæle som Imperial, Viña Real og enkeltmarksvinen Viñedos del Contino.
