CVNE (Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España) is a cornerstone of Rioja's winemaking history, established in Haro's legendary Barrio de la Estación in 1879. The name 'Cune' itself was born from a historic typographical error, where a simple printing mistake substituted the 'V' in 'CVNE' for a 'U', creating an accidental icon. The Cune Crianza is a quintessential representation of traditional Rioja Alta, crafted predominantly from Tempranillo blended with small portions of Garnacha and Mazuelo. The grapes are sourced from clay-limestone soils that benefit from a cooling Atlantic influence, yielding a wine of bright acidity and fresh red fruit character. In accordance with Crianza regulations, the wine is aged for 12 months in American oak barrels, where it develops its signature notes of sweet spices, vanilla, and subtle balsamic undertones, before completing its refinement in the bottle.

🍾 wine.about_producer

Founded in 1879 by the Real de Asúa brothers in the historic Barrio de la Estación of Haro, Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España (CVNE) is a cornerstone of Rioja winemaking. Still family-controlled today, the estate is celebrated for its harmonious blend of traditional craftsmanship and architectural innovation, featuring a legendary cellar designed by Alexandre Gustave Eiffel's studio. CVNE's philosophy centers on meticulous vineyard management across Rioja Alta and Rioja Alavesa, producing elegant, structurally complex wines aged in fine oak casks. The winery is globally renowned for its iconic labels, including the historic Imperial Gran Reserva, the fruit-forward Viña Real, and the single-estate expression Contino, which collectively define the pinnacle of classic Spanish Tempranillo.
