CVNE's Monopole, first registered in 1915, holds the distinction of being Spain's oldest active white wine brand. In the mid-20th century, CVNE utilized a legendary winemaking technique to add structure, acidity, and stability to the Viura grape: they conditioned the wine with a small percentage of Sherry (Manzanilla) sourced from Sanlúcar de Barrameda, aging the blend in traditional oak casks. Decades later, CVNE revived this historic, artisanal method to create the Monopole Clásico. The Gran Reserva tier represents the ultimate expression of this revival. Sourced from cool-climate vineyards in Rioja Alta, the wine is primarily Viura blended with a touch of Manzanilla, then subjected to extensive aging in neutral oak casks. This unique process yields a white wine of extraordinary complexity, characterized by a savory, saline edge, nutty undertones, and a remarkably vibrant acidity.

Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España (CVNE) blev grundlagt i 1879 af brødrene Eusebio og Raimundo Real de Asúa i Haros ikoniske stationskvarter, Barrio de la Estación, og er i dag en arkitektonisk og vinhistorisk hjørnesten i DOCa Rioja. Vinhuset ledes i dag af familiens femte generation under direktør Víctor Urrutia og råder over fremragende parceller i både Rioja Alta og Rioja Alavesa. Her vokser vinstokkene overvejende i kalkholdigt ler og alluviale aflejringer under et kontinentalt klima med tydelig maritim indflydelse fra Atlanten. Historisk set har CVNE altid været foregangsmænd inden for teknisk nytænkning; vinhuset tog tidligt tyngdekraftsprincippet i brug, opførte kældre tegnet af selveste Gustave Eiffel og anvendte tidligt betontanke sideløbende med klassisk lagring på egetræsfade. I vinmarkerne er bæredygtighed i højsædet, hvilket understreges af husets aktive medlemskab af International Wineries for Climate Action (IWCA). CVNE står bag legendariske vine – lige fra flagskibet Imperial Gran Reserva og den enestående Real de Asúa til nyskabende hvidvine som Viña Real Blanco, Monopole Clásico og den sjældne Corona Gran Reserva – der alle udmærker sig ved sublim balance, stort lagringspotentiale og klassisk spansk vinmagerpræcision.
