The Money Spider Roussanne owes its quirky name to the first crop of these grapes harvested at d'Arenberg in 2001. The young vines were covered in thousands of tiny, yellow-green Money Spiders. Believing it to be an omen of good fortune, and appreciating the spiders' natural pest-control efforts, winemaker Chester Osborn chose to leave them undisturbed, immortalizing them on the label. Grown in the warm maritime climate of McLaren Vale, South Australia, this single-varietal Roussanne is gently pressed using traditional basket presses and fermented in stainless steel to preserve its vibrant, exotic fruit profile. It offers a unique combination of stone fruit, green mango, and pistachio notes, underpinned by a distinct mineral acidity and a rich, textured mouthfeel derived from light lees contact.
