Established in 1928 by Italian immigrants Vittorio and Giuseppina De Bortoli, De Bortoli Wines has evolved from modest Riverina beginnings into one of Australia's historic multi-regional, family-owned wine dynasties. Headquartered in Bilbul near Griffith, New South Wales, the estate's ancestral base occupies the warm, semi-arid Riverina plains, characterized by fertile red-brown earth and clay soils fed by Murrumbidgee irrigation schemes. Under managing director Darren De Bortoli and senior winemaker Steve Webber, the house blends large-scale technological prowess with progressive viticulture certified through Sustainable Winegrowing Australia, prioritizing soil regeneration and water conservation. While the family has expanded into cool-climate Yarra Valley terroirs, the Bilbul winery remains globally renowned for defining Australian botrytized dessert wine. Its undisputed benchmark is Noble One Botrytis Semillon—first crafted by Darren De Bortoli in 1982—celebrated for its opulent balance of marmalade, candied citrus, luscious stone fruit, and taut, natural acidity.
