The soul of the wine lies in the addition of still red Pinot Noir sourced from legendary Grand Cru plots such as Ay and Bouzy. Named in honor of the 17th-century Benedictine monk who pioneered foundational sparkling winemaking techniques at the historic Abbey of Hautvillers, Dom Pérignon stands as the archetype of prestige vintage Champagne. Owned by Moët Hennessy, the house strictly produces only vintage wines, releasing cuvées exclusively in harvest years deemed truly exceptional. Crafted from a seamless blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir sourced from Grand Cru vineyards and the historic Premier Cru of Hautvillers, each vintage undergoes a minimum of eight years of lees aging.
