Domaine Bruno Clair's Grand Cru white wine production is epitomized by their legendary holdings in Corton-Charlemagne. According to historical lore, the Emperor Charlemagne ordered white grapes to be planted on these steep slopes because his wife disliked the red wine stains on his white beard. Situated on the high, limestone-rich brow of the Hill of Corton, the vines enjoy an ideal microclimate that coaxes a rare combination of power and razor-sharp minerality from the grapes. Under the stewardship of Bruno Clair and winemaker Philippe Brun, the fruit is harvested by hand and gently pressed before undergoing fermentation and extended aging in French oak barrels. The resulting Grand Cru white is a masterclass in tension, combining rich stone fruit and toasted brioche notes with a profound, stony salinity that reflects its historic terroir.

Domaine Bruno Clair blev grundlagt i 1979 af Bruno Clair, som dermed viderefører en glorværdig vinarv efter sin bedstefar, Joseph Clair, manden bag det berømte Domaine Clair-Daü fra 1919. Domænet har hjemsted i Marsannay-la-Côte i den nordligste del af Côte de Nuits og voksede markant i 1980'erne, da en række af familiens oprindelige parceller i Bourgognes mest prestigefyldte appellationer blev genforenet under vinhuset. Med udgangspunkt i et omhyggeligt, bæredygtigt markarbejde efter økologiske principper og en nænsom vinificering i kælderen lægger domænet vægt på renhed, præcision og et uforfalsket terroitudtryk i både røde, hvide og rosé-vine. Domaine Bruno Clair nyder verdensomspændende anerkendelse for sine elegante og lagringsværdige Pinot Noir-vine – særligt den toneangivende Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru samt de enkeltmarks-aftapninger fra Marsannay – foruden sine nuancerede og mineralske vine på Chardonnay og Aligoté.
