🍾 About the Producer
Domaine Comte Peraldi stands as an iconic pillar of Corsican viticulture, situated in the hills of Mezzavia overlooking the Gulf of Ajaccio. Although the Peraldi lineage cultivated grapes on the island dating back centuries, the modern estate was established in 1965 when Count Louis de Poix replanted the vineyards and championed the official creation of the Ajaccio AOC in 1971. Encompassing approximately 50 hectares, the vineyard thrives upon classic Corsican arènes granitiques—decomposed granitic soils that impart exceptional aromatic tension, mineral salinity, and freshness under Mediterranean maritime sunshine. Managed with certified organic viticulture by the Tyrel de Poix family, the estate champions indigenous varieties, notably Vermentino for its whites and Sciaccarellu for reds. Benchmark cuvées include the celebrated Cuvée Clémence, a barrel-fermented and lees-aged Vermentino expressing notes of white blossoms, bitter almond, and honeyed minerals, alongside the age-worthy red Cuvée du Cardinal.
